A Place of Grace
Thought of the Week

When fear touches your life you donít think
clearly. When fear touches your life you react illogically. When fear takes hold
of you, you look for safety anywhere. When fear attaches itself to you, wisdom
and common sense can fly out the window. Fear can leave you helpless, hopeless,
in despair, desperate and full of negativity, searching, searching, and
searching for answers, for safety, for healing, for any kind of help, from
anywhere and anyone. Sometimes that fear can lead you in the wrong direction.
Fear can lead you to drugs, alcohol, cults, it can lead you to areas you really
do not need to be in.
Satan is deceiving people into fearing him more than God. Satanís power is in the lie. He is the father of lies and deceives the whole world, which means the world is influenced by the evil one. Satan tries to deceive you into believing his lies about you and your position with God. What you need to know is that God did not give us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:17) No matter what Satan tries to tell you, nothing can change the fact that when you accept Jesus as your personal Savior, you are a child of the Living God and that God loves you. You donít need to out shout Satan or outmuscle him to be free of his influence. You need to out truth him. You need to believe, declare, and act on the truth of Godís Word and you will stop Satanís attack plan.
My patient this week was petrified that she wouldnít be around to see her young children grow up, so petrified that she made unwise decisions. She would not listen to reason or experience and knowledge. Fear had gripped her life; it had a stranglehold on her. Fear had encased her mind. This lady had allowed Satan power.
I can remember when fear had a grip on my life and I was scared about my circumstances. Many of us may be listening to Satanís lies right now because of the economy. When I was living in fear, a very dear friend told me I had given Satan power he didnít have in my life. I needed to take back what belonged to me. I needed to stand on what Godís Word says and on my experiences of how freeing truth is. The power of Satan is in the lie, and the power of the believer is in knowing the truth. Truth, the Word of God, truly does set you free!
