A Place of Grace
Thought of the Week

I've taken some computer classes to expand my
knowledge of the new technology in computer world. We have come a long way since
the typewriter and carbon paper.
Documents can have fancy graphs and charts, you just plug in the data and there are programs that plot the data and you have a nice presentation.
One of my favorite things I learned was "Ctrl Home". You can be on the 15th page of a document and hit "Ctrl Home" and you quickly go back to the beginning of the document. Another feature I like is the "undo" button, especially if I do something wrong. I just hit the button and go back to where I started from and choose a different route.
I thought about life and how awesome it would be to have an "undo" button. When we find ourselves in a difficult situation because of decisions we made, we press "undo" and go back to before the wrong decision was made and choose the correct one. Life doesn't have an "undo" button. We have to live with choices and decisions we have made. Sometimes it is for a season but other times, for the rest of our lives.
One thing I know, I can always hit "Ctrl Home" and be safe in the arms of Jesus. No matter how messed up I get or how lost I am, I can cry out to Jesus and I'm Home.
Just like the parable of the prodigal son; he had made some very "bad choices." There wasn't an "undo" button to clear out his bad choices but he did have a "Ctrl Home". His father welcomed him back with open arms, in fact he was waiting for him to come home.
When we make horrible choices, we can't change what we did but we can learn from it and not repeat the same mistakes. We can always go "Home". Call out to God, ask Him to bring you out of your darkness, out of your desperate situation. He will lift you up and out of your despair and put your feet on solid ground. You do have a "Ctrl Home" button, it is called Jesus.
