Vote and Pray!
Here it is November and two major events are to take place this month; Voting for State and National leaders and giving thanks as we celebrate Thanksgiving! Both are extremely important especially for Christians!! These past several years hard times have fallen on many; loss of employment, pay cuts, sickness and for some even relocation of housing. This has been a fast and blessed/stressed year for workers and families at Northwest. We have a responsibility to make right choices that will impact the freedom we now hold so dear, our families, our economy and our future. Both events require us to bow and pray. There is an old song that says “…through it all I’ve learned to trust in Jesus I’ve learned to trust in God…” Church, through it all we sill have many blessings to count and give thanks. This certainly is a time in our country to trust in Jesus and learn to trust in God. King David said in Psalms “Seven times a day do I praise thee O Lord.” That could be 6:00 AM, 9:00 AM, 12:00 Noon, 3:00 PM, 6:00 PM, 9:00 PM and 12:00 Midnight. How many times a day do you praise the Lord or even stop to give thanks, once, twice, or none at all? I believe the residents of the US are the most thankless people in the whole world and we have the most to be thankful for. Family, freedom, a wonderful body of believers to worship with, shelter, food on the table and enough to share with someone else, jobs, health and other resources available to us that we do not even think about until the need presents itself. The 100th Psalm reminds us to be thankful and the 150th Psalm reminds us to give God praise. Perhaps this month would be a good time to read both Psalms everyday; they will remind us to give thanks and praise to Him the One who made us and gave Himself for us that we might have life eternal and be blessed along the way. “Seven times a day do I praise thee O Lord!” Be blessed through it all!
