Encouragement

The Scriptures tell us King David encouraged himself in the Lord his God (I Samuel 30:6b). We see hurt and frustration regarding our present declining economy, the morals of this world, trying to keep up with the fast pace of ever increasing technology and rumors of general unrest around the world.  Stress is all around us.  But David came to the conclusion that he could not allow self-pity and fear grip his heart if there was no one to give him encouragement he would encourage himself.  Note, he encouraged himself “in the Lord.”  Only God can come to our rescue and bring inner peace that the world cannot give.  Who or what are you putting your trust in?

A wise Bible teacher once said, “Sooner or later God will bring self-sufficient people to the place where they have no resource but Him; no strength, no answers, nothing but Him.  Without God’s help, they’re sunk.”   It reminds me of a man who lost everything and coming to his pastor burying his head in his hands, he moaned, “I have lost all and all I have left is God.”  The pastor’s face lit up and he said, “I’m happy to assure you that a person with nothing left but God has more than enough for great victory!”  “…The battle is not yours but God’s.”  (2 Chronicles 20:15) The world doesn’t understand but all we need is God; He will take care of the rest of it if we do our part according to His Word.  Mark Twain said that he could live for a whole month on one good compliment.”  Let’s encourage one another in the Lord.

Love and prayers,
