Maranatha
Maranatha! “A word used by Paul in I Corinthians 16:22 to express the expectant
hope in the Lord’s return.”
Some Historians and Teachers say that the word “Maranatha” was used to express
their belief that the Lord’s return was at hand even as they greeted one
another. This was their common greeting instead of “hello” or other forms of
greeting. It meant “The Lord cometh” or “The Lord is coming.” It was expressed
to keep one another alert to the soon return of the Lord.
Get ready! The Lord is coming and we need a new sense of readiness as He is
coming to gather only those that are expecting Him by watching and waiting. The
story of the 10 Virgins preparing for marriage in Matthew 25:1 is a pressing
example of how we ought to be ready for Christ’s return. In the story we read
that only 5 were wise and prepared to go meet the bridegroom when the mid-night
cry came. It came unexpectedly. What will it take for you to be ready? Are you
ready to go up when He calls? Most of the signs, prophecies, and Jewish Feast
Days in the Old and New Testament alike have been fulfilled and any that have
not been fulfilled some scholars believe those could be at the door about to
come to pass. Israel is a fine example that stands as a clear marker, and a One
World Government is looking closer everyday.
Don’t let anything stand in your way of going home with Him. Let our greeting
reflect our expectation of His return.
Love and prayers,
