Psalm 1
September marks the beginning of
our church fiscal year with the installation of newly appointed State Bishops
and Youth and Discipleship Directors in each state or providence. Florida’s
newly presiding Bishop appointed by the General Assembly in July is J. David
Stephens and Youth and Discipleship Director, Dusty Wilson. We look forward to
working with them the next two years. Please remember to pray for those over us
in the Lord as commanded by the Scriptures.
Children are back in school and hopefully everyone will get back on a regular
routine. We are so thankful for you that have returned from travel and vacations
to begin the new church year at NW. In order for us to receive God’s best we
must conform to His will for blessings. Psalms One is a good place to look for
stability and guidance this new fiscal year. The Psalmist first tells us where
we ought NOT to be, to be blessed. Psalm 1:1 says “Blessed (happy, prosperous)
is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path
where sinners walk, or sits down where the scornful gather.”
Psalms 1:2,3 tells what the prosperous person DOES. “But his delight and desire
are in the law of the Lord, and on His law he habitually meditates by day and by
night. And he shall be like a tree firmly planted (and tended) by the streams of
water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season: its leaf also shall not
fade or wither, and everything he does shall prosper. (and come to maturity)
(Amplified Bible) The reminder of chapter one describes the person’s end that is
disobedient to the law of God. I pray this year will be a good one for you. That
you will delight in the law of the Lord and prosper and great things will come
your way. If we as a people mediated and obey the Word/Law of the Lord revival
fire will burn brightly and continually in our local church. We must be obedient
if we are to receive the blessing God wants to pour out on us.
Love and prayers,
