Honor...Thy Mother...
(Matthew 19:19, Proverbs 1:8)
It has been said and quoted many times, “The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.” Mothers are great heroines of the highest sort (if they are not at the very top of the summit they ought to be). Being willing to “put up with” and train up a child in the way it should go is the most gracious gift to man except that of Christ’s gift of redemption for man’s soul. Mothers seem to possess the love for their children as God loves us as His children. Mothers are patient with their little ones even as God is patient with us.
Training in the “Faith” is a Christian mother’s deepest desire. She wishes and prays that her child will become a mighty man or woman of God, have great success in life, and make heaven their home. She desires that her children lead an “up-right life” before God and man. Some of the strongest influences that a Mother has is her prayer life and daily walk. If she does not have a strong prayer life (which is her life-link to heaven) and a firm grip on the Word of God in her everyday walk, her children will flounder without direction and the guidance that is a grand opportunity and honor given by God. How “Mom” deals with life and everyday problems will influence how her children in turn deal with their onslaught of life problems and shape and determine the direction of their spiritual journey throughout life. Each older person can remember the teachings and nature of their Mother. Abraham Lincoln once said, “No man is poor that has had a Godly Mother.”
Moms, we salute you on your special day! Each of you deserve great honor from family, friends, church and society. You’re the greatest!!
Love and prayers,
~ Pastor
